Former National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete says Parliament’s failure to investigate allegations of state capture and corruption was due to inadequate resources.

Mbete has appeared before the State Capture commission of Inquiry.

Former Speaker of the National Assembly says she notes that not enough was done by the fifth parliament to investigate corruption.

Parliament has been accused of turning a blind eye to allegations of state capture and the Gupta family’s undue influence on the executive and former president Jacob Zuma.

Mbete says even though little was done to probe state capture allegations, its unfair to say MP’s sat and did nothing about it.
