Alex Mthiyane hosts the current affairs show, Indaba, which airs between 19h00 and 20h00 on Mondays, 18h00 and 19h00 from Tuesdays to Thursdays.
He says he knew from a very young age that he wanted to be a radio man. “I think radio is unique in that you are able to listen to the show whilst doing your thing, it’s one on one.”
Speaking about what he finds challenging about Indaba compared to other shows he has done in the past, Alex says in current affairs you can’t be uninformed. “So I can’t wake up five minutes before the show and rock up. I also need to be able to talk to people, no matter who they are.” He says the success of Gagasi FM to grow from nowhere to become the giant it is today is one of the black success stories that inspire him. “It’s also good to see people that I have worked with rising to become household names in the industry,” he adds. Other than radio, Alex also does charity work with various organizations and communities, endorses brands and MCs corporate events. During his spare time he enjoys exercising and playing with his “little angels.”
