Mining Company Alexkor Testifies at Zondo Commission

Long-term diamond contractor to state mining company, Alexkor Gavin Craythorne, says they warned parliament about the serious governance problems and state capture at Alexkor.

Craythorne has been testifying before the Zondo commission of inquiry investigating state capture.

In 2019, Alexkor told Parliament that it would run out of money, and the company’s former administrator, Lloyd McPatie, recommended to government that the company as well as the Pooling and Sharing Joint Venture be liquidated.

Craythorne says nobody responded in any meaningful way.
