Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, says new COVID-19 variants entering the country are a major concern.
This follows the confirmation of four cases in South Africa of the B.1.617.2, which is a variant currently circulating in India.
Two cases of the variant are from Gauteng and two from KwaZulu-Natal.
A further 11 people in the country have tested positive for the variant first detected in the United Kingdom. Eight cases are in the Western Cape, two in Gauteng, and one case in KZN.
Mkhize has called on citizens to not be complacent.
