Mkhwebane Refuses to Back Down

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane says she will approach the Western Cape High Court later this month in an effort to interdict Parliament.
Mkhwebane wants the inquiry into her fitness to hold office halted.
On her court papers, Mkhwebane also requests an order for speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to withdraw her letter to president Cyril Ramaphosa informing him of the resumption of the inquiry.
In addition, she wants Ramaphosa to be ordered to withdraw his letter asking her to explain why she should not be suspended.
This is after Parliament decided to move ahead with its inquiry despite Mkhwebane’s rescission application.
Mkhwebane says Parliament should not move ahead with the process until part b or the rescission application had been finalised.
