Former Eskom CEO, Brian Molefe, has testified how Glencore’s Optimum coal mine owed Eskom an amount of R2-billion in penalties and used their relationship with then Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa, to settle the amount.
Molefe is back in hot seat at the State Capture Commission to continue with his testimony relating to the power utility.
In early January, his testimony was called to a halt after an employee at the commission tested positive for the Coronavirus.
Commission Chairperson, Raymond Zondo, assured Molefe that the allegations against Ramaphosa has not been and will not be swept under the carpet.
Molefe says there was a lot of irregularities between Optimum Coal and Eskom and adds he had no responsibility to keep optimum out of bankruptcy.
