More Money Pledged On Green Economy

The German government has pledged R6.2-billion to help South Africa move towards a green economy.
South Africa is heavily reliant on coal, with over 80% of its electricity generated from coal.
The South African government last year awarded 25 contracts for renewable energy projects, worth a total of 50 billion rands, however only three have been signed so far.
Energy Roger Lilley says he is concerned that the South African government is moving at a snail’s pace into ensuring we transition to a low-carbon energy system.
