More Than 5000 People Murdered in Three Months

Police Minister Bheki Cele says crimes such as robbery and sexual assault have decreased but murder continues to increase.

Aggravated robberies such as car hijack have increased by 13.8 percent.

6 859 people have been murdered in SA between October and the end of December 2021, an increase of 562 compared to the same period in 2020.

Robberies at the residential premises have decreased by 0.4% while robberies in non residential areas increased by 86 more cases.

Cele says Gauteng is the province with most robbery incidents.
