Mshengu confirms KZN ready to re-open schools

Education MEC, Kwazi Mshengu, says schools in the province are ready to reopen come June first.
He says school infrastructure, supplies, and services have been prioritised in the Education department’s assessment process of school readiness.
This includes the delivery of two thousand static water tanks and installation of hand-washing stations to needy schools with an additional one thousand 500 tanks expected to be delivered by the end of this week.

The Department says schools who fail to adhere to measures put in place to protect pupils during the Covid-19 pandemic will be dealt with harshly.
Mshengu says they will be very strict in monitoring that all our schools are cleaned every day.
The MEC adds that if there is somebody who doesn’t perform his or her duty such that the school defaults consequences will be dished out to that person.
