KwaZulu-Natal ANC  provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo says the party’s Provincial Executive Committee (PEC)  is determined to deal with gender inequality in the province.

Mtolo has been addressing the media in Durban where the party announced Nomusa Dube Ncube as KZN premier-elect.

Dube Ncube’s announcement follows the abrupt resignation of former premier Sihle Zikalala.

The party submitted three candidates to the ANC NEC to choose from for the position, namely Nomusa Dube-Ncube, Amanda Bani and Mbali Frazer.

This is a first for the ANC in KZN to have a female premier-elect.

Mtolo says it’s sacrosanct for women to occupy strategic positions.
