Milford FC coach Asanda Mvalo believes that buying the status of Uthongathi FC will come with pressure for his team to perform in their first season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Mvalo spoke exclusively to Gagasi FM Sports as the team prepares for the KZN Premier’s cup tournament that is on the horizon. The former SAFA ABC Motsepe League team bought the status of the Cane Cutters and will play in the Motsepe Foundation championship in the 2023/24 season.

Last season, Milford finished as the KZN ABC Motsepe League stream A winners, and lost out to Umsinga United in the provincial play-offs in their bid to reach the second division on football merit. Milford chairman Dr Xanti Pupuma purchased the status of Uthongathi, and will keep the team in KZN for the coming season. Mvalo believes the buying of NFD Status comes with a lot of pressure for him and his boys to perform, given the scrutiny they will be under as the new boys in the league, but also feels the extra motivation to do well in their first appearance in professional football.
