The Basadi In Music Awards celebrates female talent and achievements in the music industry. The all-encompassing awards honour varied talents such as singers, rappers, DJs, composers, producers and creatives in the music ecosystem.

“Thank you guys so much for supporting me and voting for me, I’m nothing without you guys,” an emotional and grateful Naledi shared in a post.

Her journey hasn’t been without hardship, as Naledi has already lost one of her biggest cheerleaders at a young age. The promising artist has opened up about how she endured the devastating loss of her mother, Lindiwe Gugu Khumalo, while in Grade 10 and that she finds comfort in the belief that her mother is watching over her.

Juggling schoolwork and a growing music career can’t be easy but this rising star seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Naledi’s talent and hard work are truly inspiring, and we are incredibly proud to see a young South African making such significant strides in the music industry.

The promising musician even got a shout-out from KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Sipho Hlomuka who praised her talent as “unmatched”.

Looking ahead, Naledi is determined to continue her music journey, vowing not to give up. She also announced the upcoming release of her new single, Ngifuna Wena, set for 21 August.

Fisokuhle Secondary School principal, LV Khumalo praised Naledi for her humility and dedication.

“Naledi is down-to-earth and doesn’t want special treatment. She participates in all activities with her peers and is a hard worker. Her willingness to ask questions is what will help her succeed,” Khumalo said.

Her sister, Nontokozo Mkhize also won the award for Newcomer of the Year at the Basadi in Music Awards.

While there are many odds stacked against our youth, Naledi’s journey and unwavering determination are proof that small and big wins are still possible and that dreams can indeed become reality.
