The National, Education, Health and Allied Worker’s Union says it is continuing with its strike action despite the execution order by the state.

NEHAWU embarked on a wage increase strike yesterday demanding a 10% increase from the employer.

The union has appealed the execution order and is continuing with the strike as a result most government hospitals, clinics, and offices in Pietermaritzburg have been closed.

NEHAWU’s Harry Gwala Regional secretary Mazwi Ngubane says they are currently shutting down other government departments in Maritzburg and other areas such as Ntunjambili and Greytown.

Ngubane says as long as the government continues being hard-headed about its demands the strike continues.
