The ANC says it is willing to meet and discuss coalition governments with any political party that does not have a problem with working with them.
The party’s National Executive Committee met in Pretoria at the weekend to discuss the way forward after winning less than 50% of the vote in the 2021 local government elections.
The vote left more than 60 municipalities with no clear winner.
The party’s Deputy Secretary General Jessie Duarte says talks are on going and no agreements have been reached yet.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance says they are the real kingmakers and the alternative to the ANC because of the size of the party.
DA leader John Steenhuisen met with the party’s decision-making body this past weekend and discussed which parties to go into partnership with after last week’s municipal elections.
Steenhuisen has however, ruled out going into a coalition with the ANC or the EFF.
