Nontshinga and Hadebe among big winners at BSA awards

Boxing South Africa rolled out the red carpet for the stars of the game with the 2023 South African Boxing awards at the Durban ICC on Saturday. The ceremony celebrated men and women who excelled in and outside the ring in 2022 and 2023.

Sivenathi Nontshinga and Smangele Hadebe were among the big winners on the night. Nontshinga, the current holder of the IBF junior flyweight title, won the coveted Male Boxer of the Year award ahead of John “Section 29” Bopape and Phumelele Cafu, who was also among the winners on the night. Hadebe took the Female Boxer of the Year award, beating Bukiwe Nonina and Hedda Wolmarans to the coveted gong.
