The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Thami Ntuli, has urged community members to report criminals to the police even if they are members of their own families.
Ntuli has been speaking at a Crime Prevention Imbizo at Inkosi Mzondeni Civic Centre, KwaMsane, at Mtubatuba in uMkhanyakude District north of the province.
He says many communities that are riddled with crime know who the criminals are, and they protect them.
Umkhanyakude District has a huge problem of motor vehicles that are stolen and taken outside the South African border, gender-based violence, and stock theft, among other crimes.
Ntuli says to win the fight against the scourge of crime, communities need to work hand in hand with government and law enforcement.
