The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) has elected new leadership.
Today’ s the first day of NUMSA’s national congress.
The congress is going through despite a pending judgment yesterday morning on the union’s bid to appeal the Labour Court’s interdict against the gathering.
Metal workers union’s Irvin Jim has been re-elected as general secretary, Andrew Chirwa has also been re-elected as union’s president.
Jim has weighed in on the exclusion of Mpumalanga Province.
He says the exclusion of Mpumalanga in the congress is “painful” but necessary. The labour court ruled that they should be included.
