The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) says it is overjoyed over the resignation of Eskom CEO André de Ruyter.
He resigned yesterday but has agreed to remain until the end of March while the board conducts a search for a new CEO.
Numsa’s spokesperson, Phakamile Hlubi-Majola, says De Ruyter is the worst CEO in the history of Eskom and his gross incompetence is the reason the country has such shockingly high levels of load-shedding.
She says Public Enterprises minister Pravin Gordhan must also resign.
