Nzimande Urges Students to Behave Under Lockdown

Higher Education Minister, Blade Nzimande, says his department is working on a plan for vaccines in tertiary institutions.

He has been briefing media on COVID-19 regulations since the country has moved to alert level 4 of the lockdown regulations.

Nzimande says their main concern remains the safety and wellness of students and staff at all post school education and training institutions.

He further says even though all contact classes have been prohibited for the next two weeks but residences will remain open.

Nzimande has also urged students in tertiary institutions to behave themselves, while the country is under adjusted alert level 4 lockdown.

He says post learning learning institutions are not officially closed but all face to face teaching and examinations have been halted for the next two weeks, adding that learning will shift exclusively to online learning for all students.

He has also announced that since its not safe for students to travel back home due to the surge of COVID-19 cases, all residences will remain open.

Nzimande has however warned students not to hold any mass gatherings during this time.
