One Prisoner Dead at uMzinto

The department of Correctional Services in KwaZulu-Natal says an inmate has fallen to his death at the uMzinto Correctional Centre.
Department’s Spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo, says a fire had broken out at the facility and some of the prisoners managed to escape and made their way to the roof of the centre.
Nxumalo adds that authorities are investigating the cause of the fire amid growing protests across the country.
He says all correctional centres remain on high alert.
