Opposition Parties in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature have expressed different reactions to Finance MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube’s budget speech for the 2020/2021 financial year.
Dube-Ncube presented the budget virtually on Tuesday, in Pietermaritzburg.
The province’s official opposition, IFP, leader Velenkosini Hlabisa says he applauds the fact that the youth, women and people with disabilities have been prioritized in Dube-Ncube’s budget.
He says MECs should be able to account for every cent spent by their departments.

EFF Provincial Leader, Vusi Khoza, says although they applaud the increase of the Education department’s budget allocation, they are still concerned of budget cuts for the other departments.
Khoza adds that they were expecting this budget to outline how the provincial government plans to develop the province’s economy.
