Equal Education together with Equal Education Law Centre and Section27 is hoping for a clear and comprehensive plan on the phased re-opening of schools.
Basic Education minister, Angie Motshekga, is expected to brief the nation soon on the final dates for the re-opening of schools.
Equal Education’s, Noncedo Madubedube, says the department is still required to ensure that the limitation on the right to basic education is reasonable and justifiable in terms of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, civil rights group DearSA has called on Motshekga to open schools for all children under the age of ten on the first of next month.
In a letter written to the minister, the organisation argues that data shows that only a small percentage of children can contract the coronavirus.
It adds that the continued closure of schools has overburdened some parents who are now forced to stay at home and safeguard their children.
