Alleged Parliament arsonist Zandile Mafe has informed the High Court in Cape Town that he wants a life sentence.

Mafe’s appearance in court was part of a pre-trial process following his second psychiatric assessment.

The ruling on his mental fitness to stand trial is yet to be announced.

During his outburst in court, Mafe openly admitted to being the person who set Parliament ablaze in January last year.
