Written by Mfundo on 24 December, 2020
Parliament’s Home Affairs committee has called for an urgent intervention regarding the movement of people and trucks through the Beitbridge border post in Limpopo.
Chairperson Bongani Bongo says strategies should have been put in place to prevent the vehicles queues stretching over several kilometres at the border.
Bongo adds that while health checks are necessary the situation is unacceptable, especially considering the the strategic importance of the Beitbridge crossing to trade in Africa.
Meanwhile, speaking to the public broadcaster, Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says people without the necessary permits to travel into Zimbabwe are causing massive delays.
