Parliament’s joint committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests has found that the deputy minister in the Presidency, Pinky Kekana, contravened the ethics code, in that she failed to comply with the requirements of the provision for disclosing interests.
In her response to the committee in June, she confirmed that she received the payments of 140-thousand-rand in 2015 and a payment of R30 000 in 2017 from corruption-accused tenderpreneur Edwin Sodi.
The committee has agreed to Kekana’s pleas to keep secret the reason why she took the money from Sodi.
