The South African Human Right Commission (SAHRC) has cautioned that no one should be forced to be vaccinated for COVID-19 in the country.
The commission’s Buang Jones says they have received numerous calls from employees in various sectors reporting that they are being forced to be vaccinated or face consequences.
According to health experts, the vaccine will assist a person in building some form of resilience to the virus and a better chance at fighting it off should one become ill with the Coronavirus.
Currently those between the ages 35 and 49 years have joined the masses being vaccinated, with 18 to 34 to receive their jab from September.
Jones adds that they welcome the government’s measures into lowering the risk of the virus, but the fact remains that citizens are within their constitutional right to refuse to be vaccinated.
He says this should not have an impact on their jobs.
