Orlando Pirates have confirmed the return of defender Paseka Mako from a long injury lay off. Mako, who will beef up the Bucaneers’ left back position that is also covered by captain Innocent Maela, returns just in time for the Pirates’ Betway Premiership opener against Chippa United at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night.
The 30-year old has been sidelined for almost 12 months with his last appearance for Pirates coming in October 2023. Mako underwent a successful surgery for a knee ligament injury he sustained on internation duty for Bafana Bafana last year. After resuming light training in August, the Bucaneers have confirmed he is back in full team training in preparation for the start of the Betway Premiership season.
