Political parties support government’s measures to deal with the coronavirus

The ANC says it welcomes government’s efforts to implement precautionary measures to deal with the coronavirus.
The measures include travel bans from high-risk countries, banning gatherings of more than 100 people and public school closures from Wednesday.
Briefing the media in Pretoria, ANC secretary-general, Ace Magashule, says they will hold an extended national working committee meeting today:

meanwhile the DA interim leader, John Steenhuisen, says he also appreciates president, Cyril Ramaphosa’s, decision to declare a national state of disaster over the coronavirus.
There are 61 confirmed cases in the country so far, and Ramaphosa has cautioned that this number could climb.
Steenhuisen says people must now, more than ever, put politics aside if the country is to succeed in the fight against the virus.
