Premier pleads for responsible use of alcohol and cigarettes

Premier, Sihle Zikalala, says people mustn’t abuse alcohol and cigarettes following the un-banning of the two products.
Zikalala had been addressing media on the latest Covid-19 developments in the province.
Over the weekend, President, Cyril Rampahosa, announced that following consultations with health experts, as well as provincial and local governments, cabinet has decided to place the entire country on level 2.
He also reopened the sale and purchase of alcohol and cigarettes, adding that liquor outlets will be allowed to sell alcohol for off-site consumption from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm only.

Zikalala also says government will not hesitate to re-institute the ban on alcohol, and bring back a lot of other restrictions if a new wave of Covid-19 comes back.
The country has more than 587 000 coronavirus confirmed cases, over 11 800 h deaths and just over 472 000 recoveries.
