President Cyril Ramaphosa has made changes to his cabinet, moving Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Thembi Simelane to the position of Minister of Human Settlements.
Minister of Human Settlements Mmamoloko Kubayi will replace Simelane in the justice portfolio.
Additionally, Deputy Minister of Labour and Employment Phumzile Mgcina has been moved to the role of Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources. This position swap comes with Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala, who will now serve as the Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour.

President Ramaphosa had been under pressure to remove Simelane following revelations that she received a loan from VBS-linked Gundo Wealth Solutions in 2016 while serving as Polokwane Mayor.
Reacting to the cabinet reshuffle, the DA has criticised President Ramaphosa’s decision to replace Simelane with Kubayi, labelling it as short-sighted and disrespectful to South Africans. The DA’s Glynnis Breytenbach stated that Simelane has no place in the Cabinet.
