Proteas red ball coach Shukri Conrad has announced a 16-member squad for South Africa’s two-match test series against Pakistan. The first test will take place at Supersport Park in Centurion from 26-30 December, and the second test will be staged at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town from 3-7 January 2025.
Momentum Multiply Titans fast bowler Corbin Bosch has received his maiden call-up to the test side after displaying some fine form in domestic Cricket. The 30-year old has taken 72 wickets at an average of 36.75 in 34 matches for the Titans. Uncapped DP World Lions fast bowler Kwena Maphaka also features in the squad for the second time after making the bench in the second test against Sri Lanka.
All-rounder Wiaan Mulder has also been added to the squad as he completes his final phase of recovery for a fractured right middle finger he suffered in the first test against Sri Lanka in Durban. If Mulder is selected for the first test, batter Matthew Breetzke will be released from the squad. Spinner Keshav Maharaj has been included in the squad despite sustaining an acute groin strain during warm ups for the first One day international against Pakistan. He is set to undergo scans on Wednesday to determine the severity of his injury.
Full Test Squad:
Temba Bavuma (Captain), David Bedingham, Corbin Bosch, Matthew Breetzke, Tonyde Zorzi, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kwena Maphaka, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Senuran Muthusamy, Dane Paterson, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Kyle Verreynne.
