The Public Servants Association (PSA) has accepted the government’s offer of 1.5% wage increase across the board for the country’s 1.2 million civil servants.

This also includes a monthly cash payment ranging from R1200 to R1600. The 1.5% wage increase will be back dated to the beginning of this month.

Unions were calling for a 4% increase however PSA  says lockdown regulations made it quite difficult to embark on a strike and getting their demands across.

The PSA, which represents over 200 000 public servants, says it still maintains that the government is taking far too long to recover the money that was stolen from citizens through corruption.

It adds that public servants should not pay for the sins of others.
