The Public Servants Association (PSA) has demanded the urgent opening of the Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Hospital in KwaMashu, north of Durban.

The official opening of the state-of-the-art hospital was postponed last year.

It is understood that the Department of Health postponed the opening due to the high volume of over 200 000 applications received for vacancies.

The PSA’s Mlungisi Ndlovu says premier Sihle Zikalala needs to fast-track the filling of vacancies so that the hospital can start operating.
