Government employees’ salary demands have again been discussed at the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council.
The negotiations involve unions which represent 1.2-million public servants, and government which employs the union members.
Unions have tabled a demand of CPI plus 4% across the board.
Government is adamant that public servants’ demands for salary hikes are not affordable.
The Department of Public Service and Administration says there are no more funds available that can be reprioritised to meet the last leg of the 2018 wage agreement with unions.
The bargaining council says the two parties have stated their cases and government has requested more time to study labourer’s demands.
The next negotiation deadline is on the 21st of this month.
