President Cyril Ramaphosa says the matter of corruption in the health department involving the department’s minister, Zweli Mkhize, will not be swept under the carpet.
Ramaphosa had been briefing media and answering questions at the parliamentary Press Gallery, in Cape Town.
He has been getting pressure from opposition parties saying he should suspend Mkhize with immediate effect, following the allegations of maladministration and corruption in the COVID-19 tenders awarded irregularly to those close to him.
The Special Investigating Unit is currently investigating these allegations.
Ramaphosa says these news have greatly disturbed him and he will deal with them to finality.
