Ramaphosa Outlines ANC NEC Lekgotla Outcomes

ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa, says the ANC National Executive Committee Lekgotla has placed the defeat of COVID-19 as its overriding and most pressing responsibility for this year.

He delivered the closing address of the lekgotla on Sunday evening.

Ramaphosa says the lekgotla has affirmed that it must place the creation of jobs at the center of the economic reconstruction and recovery plan.

He adds that this is the most direct and effective way to respond to the hardship that many families are facing today.

Ramaphosa says the lekgotla has also agreed that  in the context of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, they need to consider the extension of basic income relief to unemployed people, who do not receive any other form of state assistance.
