Ramaphosa says coronavirus will affect economy negatively

President, Cyril Ramaphosa, says in addition to the impact that the corona virus will have on health and well being of the people in this country, and the impact it will have on the day to day lives the society it will have a negative impact on South Africa’s economy.
He has declared the coronavirus pandemic a national disaster.
Ramaphosa conceded that the coronavirus will also affect businesses and job creation.

Meanwhile the universities of the Witwatersrand, Cape Town and Johannesburg have decided to suspend all contact classes from today.
A Wits student has tested positive for the coronavirus and so has a staff member at UCT.
They are in isolation and those they’ve been in contact with are being tested.
UCT’s leadership says students have to vacate their residences within 72 hours. Wits and UJ expect staff to report for duty today.
Wits has advised students to stay in their residences.
