President Cyril Ramaphosa says the optimism and resilience of young unemployed South Africans is inspiring.
Ramaphosa has been tabling a budget vote for The Presidency this afternoon.
He says government has developed an online dash board where South Africans can track government programs that are there to assist small scale businesses during the times of the pandemic.
Although the unemployment rate in South Africa has increased to 32 %, Ramaphosa insists that the presidential unemployment stimulus that he established has supported over 700 000 young people who are either jobless or self employed.
“Of these, 422 000 are jobs that have been created or retained, 110 000 are awards issued for livelihoods support, and a further 162 000 are opportunities where awards are currently in process”, states the President.

Weighing in on the vaccine rollout program, Ramaphosa says more than 1 million people in South Africa have now been vaccinated.
He says although there were delays but the vaccination rollout campaign has now gained momentum and is accelerating fast.
“As we accelerate the roll-out of vaccines, we continue to engage various manufacturers to ensure a reliable and diverse supply of vaccines. We therefore welcome the news that the World Health Organisation has validated the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use,” says Ramaphosa.
He adds that France has pledged its support for South Africa and will assist with raising funds.
