President Cyril Ramaphosa has urged all registered South Africans to vote in the local government elections today.

The president will cast his vote at the Hitekani Primary School in Soweto, Johannesburg today.

Voting stations are open from 7am until 9pm.

In a message to the nation, Ramaphosa says local government elections are about the issues that matter most to everyone – housing, electricity, water, sanitation, and decent roads.

He has urged all South Africans heading to the polls today to adhere to all COVID-19 regulations and keep safe.
