The Empangeni Regional Court in northern KZN has sentenced a 24-year old man to two life terms in prison for raping two girls aged 10 and 12 in Ezikhaleni reserve.

Xolani Ntuli was arrested in 2019, a year after the evidence of sexual assault was discovered when the two friends attended virginity testing.

Provincial Police Spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala, says the two girls revealed during questioning as to why they were no longer virgins ….. that they were raped by Ntuli ….. and said he threatened to hurt them if they told anyone.

The first rape took place in March 2018, when the 10-year-old girl was raped by Ntuli while visiting her friend.

The court has found that the second incident took place in September the same year, when the 12-year-old girl was asleep and was also raped by Ntuli.

Gwala says the perpetrator then left the area when he heard that the girls decided to break their silence but was found and arrested at Inanda where he was hiding in 2019.
