The Portfolio Committee on Social Development has urged SASSA gold card beneficiaries who were unable to migrate to the Postbank black card to make use of the available Postbank cardless services while awaiting the transition to their new cards.

Postbank CEO Nikki Mbengashe has reassured beneficiaries that SASSA will continue to pay funds into their accounts, adding that beneficiaries can still access their grants via the Post Office withdrawal process or through retailers’ cardless payment methods, provided they are registered for these services.

While the deadline for gold card migration passed last Thursday, Postbank will continue issuing black cards until 30 June 2025.

Mbengashe acknowledged the long queues at Postbank branches and appealed for patience during the transition period. She confirmed that Postbank will keep swapping SASSA gold cards until the end of June 2025 to ensure a smooth shift for all beneficiaries.
