ANC Deputy General Secretary, Jessie Duarte, says she will never come to terms with the painful death of late ANC activist Solomon Mahlangu.
The national leadership of the party is visiting the Kgoshi Mampuru II correctional facility, for the 42th commemoration of the life and times of Mahlangu.
Duarte says Mahlangu and others who suffered the same fate were way too young to die like that.
“And that is really the story about the death penalty, it is who will die? The young and the Black. I think that the course that the government has taken for rehabilitation is a good one because the apartheid regime did not only kill people legally but they also did it illegally, in many different ways,” explains Duarte.
Meanwhile, ANC Treasurer General, Paul Mashatile, says the allegations of a total shutdown by ANC members who are opposing the step aside policy aren’t true.
Some ANC members are believed to be disgruntled by the NEC decision to ask Secretary General, Ace Magashule, to step aside in 30 days.
He says there are protocols of raising grievances inside the party and the cadres who are disgruntled know which route to take.
