Political Economist Jabulani Khanyile says if the Reserve Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee decides to increase again the repo rate, the decision will negatively affect the citizens.
The committee is expected to meet for the first time this year and also brief the media next week.
Last year November, the MPC decided to raise the repo rate to 3.75% per annum.
Quarterly, growth for the third quarter of 2021 was also revised to -2.5% from -1.2% before.
Khanyile says if the repo rate increase next week people will be forced to dig up more in their pockets to pay their loans.
