Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says the rapid rise in new Covid-19 cases in some communities is a sign that something needs to be done to ensure this does not spiral out of control.

The minister is in the Eastern Cape this week, as part of government efforts to support the province in addressing the resurgence of Covid-19.

Mkhize says human behaviour is playing a huge role in the rising numbers, adding that people need to understand that amid the Coronavirus pandemic, following rules and exercising health protocols is important.

He adds that government is prepared to discuss additional lockdown restrictions to help control the resurgence of cases in some provinces especially in the Eastern Cape.
