Following Orlando Pirates’ hard fought 1-0 victory over Richards Bay FC, coach Jose Riveiro has emphasised the importance of creating a winning culture within the Bucaneers camp. Kabelo Dlamini came off the bench in the second half to score a beautiful free-kick that secured all three points for the Soweto giants in a tightly contested BVetway Premiership clash at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
A third successive win for Pirates sees them move into second position, level on points (9) with the Champions Mamelodi Sundowns, as they remain the two teams who have maintained their 100% record so far this season.
“I think we created enough even in the first half to get the lead, but then again we have to fight almost until the last minute to get that goal, that in my opinion is fair and a true reflection of both teams performances. We giving a lot of value to the three points, we know how difficult it was for us last season to play Richards Bay and get something positive,” said Riviero speaking to the media after the match.
The victory saw Pirates end a run of four matches without victory against the Natal Rich Boyz, and produced one of their best starts to the season in recent memory. Riveiro has emphasised the importance of getting as many wins as possible to create a winning culture within the team this season.
“I think it is good to win, to continue to creating that habit of winning constantly and consistently. Again not conceding one goal which is something that will always push you to be close to getting the result that you are looking for. I think the boys today, they produced a very professional and honest performance.”
