SA Moves Back to Lockdown Alert Level 3
Written by Mfundo on 29 December, 2020
President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that the country has moved back to alert Level 3 of the national lockdown.
This follows the increasing number of infections and hospitals being full to capacity, causing a major strain on the health system.
The nationwide curfew will be extended from 9pm to 6am with the exception of permitted workers and for medical and security emergencies.
Ramaphosa says the sale of alcohol from retail outlets and the on-site consumption of alcohol will not be permitted.
He says several of the level 3 regulations are being strengthened to further limit the potential for transmission, while keeping the economy open.
