SA Needs COVID-19 Vaccines ASAP – Experts

Medical experts are urging government to speed up the country’s vaccination rollout to curb a third wave of COVID-19 infections.

This comes as the department of Health has signed a crucial contract with US pharmaceutical giant, Pfizer, for the supply of 20 million more doses of the vaccine.

The delivery of these jabs is expected from the middle of next month.

Government has been criticised for the slow pace of the vaccination rollout programme, as close to 269,000 health workers have received the jab thus far.

A Vaccinologist at the Wits University , Shabir Madhi, says these vaccines should be jabbed into the arms of people as soon as possible.
