Justice Minister, Ronald Lamola, says extradition treaty with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will come into force on 10 July 2021.

Lamola has been updating the nation on the extradition and mutual assistance agreements between South Africa and the UAE.

The treaties will open way for the controversial Gupta family to be extradited to the country, to face allegations of corruption, money laundering and state capture levelled against them.

Meanwhile, Lamola says he’s concerned that South Africa has not yet received cooperation from the UAE to bring the controversial Gupta family to the country.

He adds that they expect cooperation from the UAE.
