The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) has finally been admitted as a member of the National Economic Development and Labour Council, after six years.
Nedlac is a policy-formulating body comprising the government, business, labour, and community constituencies.
Saftu’s spokesperson, Trevor Shaku, says their admission means Nedlac will have a federation that is neither liberal nor in cahoots with the ANC, and they are going to push pro-worker issues on the forum very aggressively.
