Salga is pleased that the energy space is being opened up

The South African Local Government Association has welcomed the move to allow municipalities to procure their own power from independent power producers.

President, Cyril Ramaphosa, announced last week that government will start procuring emergency power from projects that can deliver electricity onto the grid within three- to 12-months from approval.

Salga CEO, Xolile George, says they are pleased that the energy space is being opened up.
